My initial request was for re-packing the CV joints on my 1984 Vanagon,
Based on their recommendation,I agreed to a complete replacement of these drive shafts, who had then +/- 230,00 miles of service, with no problem.
Replacing the CV Joints resulted in severe knocking noise from these Chinese / Japanese shafts, synchronous with tire rotation, coming from these replaced CV joints
After some repeat attempts to replace the drive shafts, I finally located Geman-made LOE-PRO German made axles.
Installing them, result was silence from the rear axles, no more knocking.
My concern during this time was always the effect these axles, and their knocking noise, (hard spots in resistance to drive axle rotation) will have on my transmission, which had been customized for my 2.5 liter Subaru motor to drop 3rd and 4th gear engine rotation at speed, improve fuel mileage, reduce engine wear.
