This was my first (and now last) charter experience. It was truly awful. We had captain Tom with the halibut hunter. He was not super talkative at first so it was awkward. He did not have the boat ready at departure. When we finally got moving he was rude straight off the bat moving around the cabin getting customers situated. We did not have a deckhand, which nobody bothered to tell us. When we got to our trolling location he yelled at my boyfriend to "grab this, go there" etc. So my boyfriend became the deck hand. The captain continued to yell and cuss at all of us throughout the trip. Another man on the boat caught the first salmon, and shortly after my mother in law and I both caught a salmon each. We eventually moved on to a halibut spot, where the fishing was steady-ish. As I was pulling in my second halibut I saw a dead salmon floating in the water. I told the captain and then all hell broke loose. There was a hole in the basket off the back of the boat that holds the fish. My coho and my mother in law's king were gone. To keep this short(er) there was a string of cussing and yelling from the captain. The sea was getting rough which I understand is not the fault of the charter, but the captain did not want to go anywhere else so we dealt with very rough seas and at least 4 of us were very inexperienced. He was so determined to get our max amoint of fish he was trying to make us "party fish" which is when one person limits out, they continue to fish until everyone's limit is reached (VERY illegal). I refused to participate in illegal activity and quit fishing when I had my limit.
We finally headed back 3 hours early, but at that point I was so sick of the whole thing I did not care.
We took time to talk to a manager at the office, of course all she said was that she has never heard anything like that and she will talk to the captain.
Inlet Charters, you have lost 6 future customers and who knows how many of my friends and family I will tell about this.
