My first appointment was to look over a newly purchased vehicle. I said to keep the bill under $500. After communicating I was convinced to authorize $1,400 for diagnostic work. The next week my car overheated and I was stuck in Vantage, WA. I brought the car back to Jay's after a $5,250 engine was put in. I was told that "no more work could be done without charging me." They were trying to make good on the $1,400 that I had spent prior to the blowout. However, I showed up the next day to pick up my car and I was asked "have you gotten an oil change after the 500 mile break in period?" This happened while they were turning me loose, no pay. I felt reimbursed for the former $1400 pre inspection. I told them to go ahead and do an oil change. When I showed up the following day I was told that "they don't work for free."
I paid $1,400 for a pre-inspection and the car blew up. I then had a $390 oil change. I will not be going back. Communication and trust are two criterion that I look for in a mechanic. Jay's failed me on both.
Ross, you have written this implying that we installed the engine, which we did not. You write this as if we are responsible to make the other shops work right at no charge. I understand that the amount of money you have invested in this car is huge for such a young man. I would appreciate it if you aimed your frustration at the shop responsible.We ran the tests you authorized, my mechanic did not say there would be no charge, nor is he authorized to do so.. He did say to try this and give him feed back. Instead, you blast me on the internet and reversed your credit card charges. If you had a problem I would have appreciated a conversation as the shop owner. I may have been able to help you straighten it out.
