I have been going to this dentist for over 13 years without incident or adversity. This time was different. Upon arrival I was greeted and asked to complete my personal information online. No problem. I then had my teeth cleaned by my regular dental assistant. When she asked about my teeth I told her that I was having some pain on the right side. She asked if I wanted X-rays I declined because I had them in last visit. No problem, no comment.
When the dentist (Dr. Bowns) arrived she told him about my problem. He asked if I had had X-rays, she said no.
The dentist did his usual 20 second inspection of my teeth and announced that "i didn't have any cavities and that there wasn't anything else he could do for me" and left. Slightly surprised I asked the Assistant why he hadn't even looked at the area where I was having pain she replied that I hadn't had X-rays.
The check out was fine although I did mention that I wasn't pleased and that I was contemplating a move (to another dentist). I got the impression that they didn't care!
I found this whole episode very disturbing. Not only did Dr. Bowns act unprofessionally in not taking time to look at my problem and requiring X-rays as necessary but also giving me attitude which I felt was unwarranted.
Now I believe this change is because my wife had questions about his performance regarding care of her teeth. She had to have oral surgery on Tuesday to remove two teeth that had deteriorated and had hairline cracks in them that went undetected over the last two visit with Dr. Bowns. She asked for a meeting to discuss - I don't know exactly what was said but.........I wonder if my experience was fallout from her visit.
If so, very unprofessional and unwarranted.
