When I sent the critical review, below, to Mr. Killeen, he promptly emailed me and handled the complaint. He asked me for a time and date to correct the installation. Killeen staff returned to our home within a minimum time and responded completely to all of our concerns. The installation was fixed by the assembly of base leveling feet (an original component) and the reversal of the door position. The shower is secure, stable, and functionally convenient in our installation. We are satisfied and returning customers.
Killeen installed a replacement for our 40-year old basement stand-alone shower for $1643. The shower is a Mustee Model 82 with an optional glass door Model 88.700. The installers tore out the original shower, an earlier version of this shower with the substantial difference being wall materials and the wall joint. The door opening was on the right. The installers put the new door on the left, not asking me my choice or informing me that they had made this unilateral change--although I asked for a direct replacement which would have put the opening on the right. After finding this at the end of the installation, I chose not to keep them here to correct their error, but generously decided to try to live with the change. This has proven to be inconvenient enough that I called Killeen to come and reposition the door. The installation was on 2/2/17, the call placed on 2/28/17. The call proved to be unfruitful. The answerer, identifying herself as the manager, took an inordinate amount of time establishing that I had been the customer, then proceeded to try to justify the door placement. When that proved to be unsuccessful, she took issue with the time it has taken me to get back to her, knowing nothing of my time constraints or my personal situation. After originally scheduling a return visit (by the time we got to the return visit the discussion was proving less than cordial), she declined to send anyone out to do the correction. I also identified an installation "fix" wherein the installer attached the upper right hand front of the shower frame to our heating duct to stabilize the torqued installation--the stand-alone shower does not allow for the bottom of the shower door to clear the top edge of the shower base. I called that a "sloppy installation" and challenge anyone to tell me otherwise. In addition, the provided leveling screws for the base (from the Installation Instructions) were absent and some plastic wedges were used on the two rear corners of the base, making the base a bit slippery on its foundation, not a good situation when accidental bumps might occur in this installation. The contract called for an installation time of not more than 8 hours; as best I can document, the team of two was at the installation site for not more than 7 hours, although we paid our remaining balance on the original estimate. No refund for the extra hours has been forthcoming, even after the one month period since the installation. We have been Killeen customers for a number of years; they were recommended by our daughter who has used them as well. They may have lost me as a customer.
