Is it legal to separate minors from the parents responsible for

Dr. Riemer Dental Group replied:
Our office takes tremendous pride in taking all steps necessary to make sure that the guidelines set by the American Dental Association as well as state laws are followed at all times. To address the concern of a child having dental treatment completed without the parent in the treatment area, please be assured that we treat each of our patients as if they were our own family members. No treatment is given to a minor without obtaining proper parental consent. For routine dental procedures, including cleanings, fluoride treatment, and dental examinations, we may ask that family and friends wait in the waiting area as there is limited space in the operatories. This is also to respect the privacy of other patients having dental treatment done. We sometimes find that a child does better during a restorative procedure if the parents are not in the treatment room. This allows the child to focus on us. If a parent requests to be present during the child?s dental procedure, one parent or guardian is welcome to escort the child and be present during treatment.
