I towed my car to your shop. You did a diagnostics test for $180. The estimated repair would cost parts & labor over $2000. I took my car to another repair shop. They did their own test, and found a blown fuse to the fuel pump, TOTAL COST $99.
Loeffler's European Automobiles replied:
Mr. Gonzales originally authorized the diagnostic service only. We completed it and found the problem to be a defective pre-fuse box; a known problem that has been described in a Mercedes Benz North American Technical Service Bulletin to all repair shops and dealers. The required replacement was included on our Repair Estimate, which would have resulted in a total charge (including parts, labor, EPA Charges and sales tax) of $739.23, not the $2000 which he claimed in this review.
We charged him for the diagnostics only because he refused the repairs. Had he authorized us to proceed, then we would have waived the diagnostic charge of $180.
The problem will not go away just because he replaced the blown fuse. As per Mercedes Benz, there is a bad contact in the pre-fuse box, and he will have to go through all this again.

Loeffler's European Automobiles replied:
This car initially came in with defective oil filter housing, oil seal gasket, and water pump. These problems would certainly cause the engine to smoke. After repair, the customer was told the smoking would continue for several miles of driving until the residual fluids and residue would burn off.
Six days later the customer called from the road stating the engine had overheated, and then quit. The car was towed in. Our diagnosis showed that the cooling system thermostat was damaged. After this repair, we test-drove the car for more than 90 miles, before releasing it to the customer, and we found no evidence of overheating, smoking or damage.
Note to all our customers?..all our repairs are warranted for one year or 12,000 miles, whichever comes first.
