Let me first start by saying that I am the epitome of an apprehensive patient. It’s more than apprehensive. It’s full on phobia from traumatic experiences in my past. Because of this crippling fear, I have neglected my teeth, and I am at an age where I need to protect the remaining teeth that I do have.
For the last few dental appointments that I’ve had over the last 10 years I have had to use or conscious sedation. I did a Google search for dentist in my area that offer it and that’s how I found Dr. Lyford’s office.
When I went in for the consult, we discussed using nitrous oxide as a means to get through the appointment with little fear, but I absolutely petrified. I didn’t believe it would work and I asked for medication for the appointment. Long story short, the medication didn’t really work for me as he had me try it at home before my appointment. so I was back to Square one and as I was trying to push through my fear, I reached out it once again to the office and asked if we could go back to the original plan.
The nitrous worked like a charm, and I was able to get all of the dental work done in one appointment. I cried with relief, knowing that future appointments would not be so anxiety provoking. he really knows what he’s talking about! He is patient and kind and highly skilled!
Dr. Lyford and his whole team have gone out of their way multiple times to make me feel well cared for and safe. They even called me a couple of times after my procedure to see how I was doing, and that was much appreciated.
I never thought I would say that I’m looking forward to going back into a dental office but now that I know nitrous oxide works for me. I can confidently say that.
