Well, where do I start.
This is lengthy, please bear with me.
I have a 1957 Chevrolet that needed quite a bit of work. I stopped by Main Street Garage and spoke to the Michael, the manager, and explained to him what I wanted done to the car. He assured me that they could provide the service since they have worked on older cars in the past. I explained to him that I was not in a hurry but that I wanted the job done right, he gave me his assurance.
Over the next couple of months my professional working relationship with Michael and mechanic Eddie grew to a mutual understanding of what was needed to be done on the car and a willingness to discuss what steps were needed to complete the job. Many of the problems with the car were layered but both Michael and Eddie understood what I expected and worked with me to get the job done.
They are both professional, work conscious individuals who appreciate customer service.
THIS MUTUAL UNDERSTANDING CHANGED WHEN THE OWNER OF THE BUSINESS GOT INVOLVED.
Toward the end of the job I called one week to just get an update and see if there was anything I needed to order. The owner answered the phone. He was very rude and abrupt. He told me that they should NOT have never taken the job, that they are NOT going to work on cars with carburetors in the future and that this should have been a job for the winter, not the summer, even though I had already paid them thousands of dollars $$$. While he was in charge, Michael was on vacation, my car just sat there, pushed to the back of the garage. The owner made me feel as if my business was not appreciated and that my business was a burden.
It was apparent to me that the owner only wants those jobs that are the easiest to do and can charge the most for... I will have very much difficulty recommending a business that ONLY deals with the bottom line and NOT providing customer service.
To Michael and Eddie I give all the praise, the owner is fortunate to have them... but with his attitude I only wonder how long they will stay!!
Because of the owner I cannot give Main Street Garage my recommendation.
