I recently brought my new cat to Manhattan Cat Specialists to see Dr. Sheheri, and I could not be more delighted with the care that he received. When I adopted my kitten, he had a badly injured paw that had healed improperly and caused him to walk on his wrists rather than on the pads of his foot. A specialist we had taken him to had said the only way forward was to amputate at the shoulder. While I was seeking a general physical examination for my kitten, I was also hoping that she would be able to provide a good referral for a specialist who may offer options other than amputation. Dr. Sheheri absolutely lived up to her reputation as someone who is willing to engage in difficult to solve cases, and to recommend creative solutions.
Dr. Sheheri and her team gave a very thorough, caring exam, and kept my kitten in good spirits despite the blood draw he had to receive. She and her team spent an entire hour with me to conduct his exam, brainstorm about options for treatment and referrals. She's extremely smart and knowledgeable, and took the time to explain everything to me in detail (and in layman's terms). She wound up making us a fantastic referral (and personally called to get us an appointment that week) who wound up recommending physical therapy rather than amputating at the shoulder. In addition, Dr. Sheheri recommended specialized vaccines that won't increase the risk of bone cancer (since one of his legs will never be 100%). I am so happy to know that my cat's new primary care veterinarian is so capable, diligent and caring.
