Dr. McConathy's office will not submit a predetermination of benefits to dental insurance.
The Predetermination offers the consumer valuable information. It makes it possible for the consumer to review the cost and possible reimbursement for treatments or tests in advance, and allows the consumer to make an appropriate decision before the test or procedure is performed. I was very disappointed that they wouldn't do it for me.

We are so sorry for your disappointment on this matter. Unfortunately, due to errors from insurance companies in the past, we have found that submitting printed prederminations has led to more confusion than clarification regarding eligible benefits. Discouraging as it has been, we are always happy to speak with insurance companies directly regarding our patient's benefits--and work to assist them in maximizing their benefits for planned treatment.

Dear John, as previously discussed, dental patients must be examined once per year. This is, not only an ethical issue, but a legal one. Every time you receive care with our office, you receive an exam. Though we strive to work with our patients specific needs, it is imperative that we adhere to adequate standards--standards that are implemented to protect our patients' dental health.
