McDonald Optical is the premier optical center in Iowa, serving the entire Midwest. We are a family owned business started in 1956 by Alfred McDonald. Two of Mr. McDonald son's, John and Don McDonald purchased the business in 1988 following Alfred's retirement. Reid McDonald, John's son, is now the third generation owner and is committed to the family tradition. There are family members involved spanning four generations. From the beginning, McDonald Optical has focused on providing only the highest quality products paired with individualized customer care. We continue our tradition by offering our customers "eyewear as individual as you" while providing a lasting optical experience.

I have been going to McDonald Optical since 1971. Reid and his excellent staff continue the McDonald tradition of outstanding customer service, just as Al and Don did. Several years ago I was in an early evening biking accident in which my glasses were destroyed. Reid opened the store so he could put my lenses into another frame and bring them to the hospital where I was being treated for my injuries. Try and find a chain store that would do that!

McDonald Optical is always professional and easy to work with. Dr. Julia Hibbing is my favorite
eye doctor and I've had a number of them. She is warm and friendly and always remembers details
about me that most doctors wouldn't bother with. She's very personable yet knows the eye business.
I feel very confident when she gives me advice for my dry eye problems.

Hair stylist was great and receptionist was friendly. Only complaint is that when paying with a credit card, the card reader automatically adds in any hair care products you buy when figuring the tip percentages. Makes you feel cheap when you don’t choose 15-20% (due to inflated $ number when hair care products are included).Read More …
