I can't express how much gratitude I have for this facility. My 15 year old dog Benjie is quite anti-social towards strangers/animals and has a fear of Veterinarian offices due to past experiences. This in turn, makes me equally as nervous and fearful to put my boy in an uncomfortable situation. Ben started to grow a lump underneath his tail that grew quickly and seemed to cause him some discomfort. As a concerned dog mom, I started researching clinics in our area that specialized in senior care and decided to give Mercy Hospital a chance.
From the moment Benjie and I walked in for his first appointment, we were greeted by kind, compassionate, and friendly reception staff. Ben’s Veterinarian was skilled, professional, and most importantly, he listened. After assessment, surgery was highly recommended to remove the mass. The Vet heard my concern loud and clear regarding anesthesia at 15 years of age and was open to coming up with a creative game plan to suit Ben’s diagnosis (perianal adenoma) along with his age. Within one week, a consult, bloodwork and price quote were done and surgery was successfully completed with anesthesia the next day.
As hard as it was to pass Benjie over to staff the morning of his surgery, I had a comforting feeling that the team was going to do everything they could to make Ben's surgery successful. I was notified immediately after Ben woke up from anesthesia and was given a thorough status update as well as photos of the mass removed following his surgery.
Again, thank you to the team at Mercy Animal Hospital for taking such great care of Ben in his golden years. Thank you for treating him as if he was your own family member. Lastly, thank you for taking care of the protective dog mom who was terrified and weepy in the office prior to surgery day.
