Dr. Tavallei is great! He is very clear about what kind of dental work I needed to get done, he answered all the questions I had, and overall great about caring for the patient as a person.
The main issue I ran into with his office is that despite being in-network with my insurance company, they refused to bill my insurance for services that my insurance covers 100%. Instead, I got to the office with tooth pain, ready for my procedure, only to be surprised that I had to pay for everything out-of-pocket! I don't understand the purpose of being in-network if you're not going to actually bill my insurance company. A lot of people don't have $1000 just sitting around. On top of that, when I asked them to verify with my insurance that these services are not covered, the receptionist said that it usually takes 4-5 weeks to do so... even though every other dentist's office literally just calls the insurance company and gets an estimate the same day. I ended up leaving and finding another dentist who did everything and billed my insurance, and the insurance company covered everything as they said they would for an in-network dentist.
Moraga Dental Care replied:
Thank you for your comment, since I do not have your name here i will not be able to address your issue properly but in general we are in network with all the PPO insurance companies except Delta. We always submit the claim to the insurances even to Delta. I believe you were told that we will send a preauthorization to your insurance and it will take 4-5 weeks for them to respond. If you have any questions please call the office and we can explain everything to you based on your specific condition.
