Not what I've come to expect. We've sung Murphy's praises for years. I am typically a diligent patient and have even been told by one of their hygienists in the past that I'm a great flosser. After a crazy year of moving, then staying home and nursing our 5th child, and a busy schedule for my husband to earn a promotion, I ended up having to cancel my last 6 month check up. My upcoming cleaning has been scheduled for months. I usually enjoy going to the dentist. It is a nice quiet break for this SAHM! Because I missed one check up, I was reprimanded for "decay" seen on one of my teeth and for not taking time for myself. I had to hold back tears because it was the last thing I needed to hear that day, and I never miss check ups other than this once. After ordering additional x-rays, dentist said he was actually seeing a leaking filling, NOT decay. Then I was told that my 4-year-old crown (placed at this office) needs replacing. Praying that insurance covers the replacement of a crown under 5 years old. Full disclosure, I do have a small new cavity that I will accept full responsibility for. However, I do not feel that the general scolding tone of the rest of my appt was warranted. I understand that some patients with ongoing hygiene issues need a more firm reminder to take care of their teeth but I am not that patient.
