It's been a while since the last time I was in a dentist's office. I had braces in high school and it was somewhat of a traumatic experience for me (I still have nightmares about them), which has kept me from seeing a dentist. However, at the encouragement of my husband, I scheduled an appointment with Proud Smiles. He has been going there for a long time and has always been really happy with the services he has received there. He also talks about how clean the office is. My appointment was last Friday and upon entering the office, the first thing I noticed was how clean and welcoming it was. The front desk staff was very warm and helpful. The beautiful pictures of smiling faces were comforting. After filling out the required paperwork, I was greeted by Dr. Paulen. We had a one-on-one conversation about my dental health history, any problem areas, and what I hope to gain from working with her and her team. After this, I was shown to the examination area where I was introduced to Kristie. While she was preparing her tools, I could hear the conversation happening behind me. It was between a patient and other Proud Smiles staff. She was so happy with her dental work that she began to cry. I almost started crying too. Kristie administered X-rays, then Dr. Paulen came in and discussed with me what she saw on the X-rays. We talked about a course of action then I was lead to the front where the dental hygienist, Jasmine, was prepared to clean my teeth. I was worried about this part because I thought it would hurt. Nothing about it was painful. Jasmine was very caring and took her time. It was a very pleasant and enjoyable experience overall. She educated me about oral health care and suggested a toothbrush. I cannot wait to go back in August for my follow up cleaning. Thank you Dr. Paulen and Proud Smiles!
