I dropped my BMW X3 for a lot of oil leak, possibly valve cover. I was given a quote of $50 for diagnostics. The leak was so much that within driving 1 mile, I could see smoke coming out of engine, since the oil was falling on exhaust or other hot part. The shop couldnt figure it out and Mr Michael asked to keep it for another day. Next day he told me that they still couldn't find out whats wrong, but asked me to fix 2 things, valve cover and oil pan sensor. The quote for this whole fix was around $1000 and I was told this may not fix the issue, Really??
I said, I will not get it fixed if you are not sure, then I was given a bill of $107 for diagnostics. I was never told during the phone conversation that it will cost me double the amount for diagnostics. I politely brought this up with Mr Michael but he was not listening and said he meant and thought I understand, whereas he never mentioned the cost. He was rude and demanded $107. I paid it but was very disappointed the way it worked. How can a big shop not find out an oil leak, still quote me $1000 for repair and telling me this may not fix the leak. I took my car and withing 1 mile the smoke started coming out. Your guys drove my car for around 12 miles and how could they not see oil leaking and burning.
I'm very reasonable guy and never argue about the mechanic cost on the car. But when I refused to go ahead with the bloated repairs, I was slammed with $107 diagnostics.
I'm not sure if someone is going to read this feedback and try to take a positive action. But so far, I'm disappointed by the dishonesty and wrong diagnostics leading to huge repair quote by your shop.
