The staff at Rockhill Pet Clinic is just the best. We're always greeted with a smile, and they go out of their way to make my dog feel comfortable. We even get follow up calls after visits to make sure everything went well and that our pet is doing fine the next day. They're rock stars that we would recommend to others in a heartbeat.
My family is new to the area and we found Rockhill with an internet search. They had mostly positive reviews (4.7) so we decided to give them a try. The tech that greeted me at the door was incredibly friendly and welcoming. However, that’s where our pleasant experience ended. The tech that came in to chat and get previous history was friendly enough, however, she just kept on “suggesting” multiple extra treatments and vaccines for my dog. He was a rescue that I adopted 3 years ago, he’s had no health issues, and we were simply there to get annual shots. Before we left, I paid $280 for shots and his exam. This amount was after I asked them to take off a charge for a $75 blood screening, which I did not ask for nor authorize. Because they had already drawn the blood, I was still charged $12 for that simple process. The vet was in the room with my dog and I for roughly 2 minutes before she and the tech took him to another room to administer his shots. In my expertise with owning this dog, ALL his previous vets have stayed in the same room as me so that I could continue to see him and comfort him, and have charged no more than $150 for his annual shots and exam. I came one with no less than five additional pamphlets about all the extra vaccines I could give him as well, if i decided to in the future, as well as information for an insurance plan. My total visit cost just over $400 for the exam and his flea/tick and heartworm prevention medicine. And the only reason I decided to go ahead and buy his mediciations here was because the tech told me buying them from an online pet medicine store, as we had done in the past, voids the warrenty on the medicine, but if I purchase through the vet, then should he ever developed heartworms, the treatment would be covered through them.
All in all, the tech came off as pushy, trying to sell many things to me that I did not find necessary and the vet did not speak enough to me for me to even develop any sort of opinion or trust in her skills. This is most certainly not the place to go if you are looking for a vet that is reasonably priced. Because of what a routine visit cost, I can’t imagine what any sort of emergency might run you.
This was not a good visit. We usually see Dr. Stewart, who is WONDERFUL, but this time we saw a different doctor, who was quite rude and brusque. There was a new vet tech who was obviously still in training, and the doctor was extremely rude to her during our visit. We have seen this doctor on a few other occasions as well--always when we have to make a last-minute appointment and can't be choosy about which doctor we get. She is always unfriendly with terrible bedside manner. On all future visits, we will make sure to request Dr. Stewart.
We got an appointment the same day as a new patient for a vet to see my sick dog. Upon arrival the techs were friendly and immedialtly got us into a room. We didn't wait long before meeting both the nurse and doctor, who were knowledgable, patient, and very good with my old dog. Also, the prices were fair which we appreciate. We will be back.
