The service was mediocre, at best. Our initial contact was with the vet assistant, and there was a distinct disconnect between her and my dog. She did not acknowledge him at all the entire time we discussed his records and history. In contrast, when she returned with the veterinarian, she was effusive in touch and praise and warmth toward him. At that point, the attention felt incredibly disingenuous. The visit was relatively routine, which is acceptable, but communication from both the vet assistant and veterinarian was very poor. My dog received a vaccination during his visit that morning and by the afternoon was exhibiting signs of lethargy and discomfort, which was very alarming to me, as no one provided any aftercare instructions or even made mention this might be something to expect. What's more, while optional services were deliberately pushed (ie unnecessary X-rays for a wellness check), cost of any and all services was actively avoided. This was my first visit to Rosedale, but it's also the first vet encounter I've had where pricing wasn't presented and okayed prior to service. Obviously I could have requested an estimate (and would have, if cost was a concern for us this visit), but I was a little taken aback that this isn't a standard practice, especially with their upsell attempts. Overall, our experience with Rosedale Veterinary Clinic was a disappointment. Yes, the dog received care (a quick checkup, a simple blood panel, a vaccination, heartworm and flea meds), but the clinic staff doesn't feel particularly caring, which is something we prioritize.

Rosedale Veterinary Clinic replied:

I'm sorry to hear that we didn't meet your expectations. As a veterinarian, it is our job to advocate for your pet and discuss possible diagnostic tools if we find abnormalities in the history and physical exam. We cannot always make recommendations for your pet with an exam alone and giving advice without a diagnosis could be negligent. It is your right as the pet owner to decline any and all recommendations that you are given. Since this is an anonymous review, I do not know the exact circumstances why radiographs would have been recommended at the time. But we do not tend to make recommendations without a reason.

All of our staff here loves animals and helping them. It is actually a job requirement at this hospital. I will talk to my staff about their compartmentalization skills and remind them to prepare for the next appointment prior to interaction. I have found in most cases this is due to a particularly hard situation just happening (i.e. euthanasia). But again, I apologize that they weren't as welcoming at first.

As far as your pet being lethargic with some discomfort after the vaccination that should have been discussed with you as a possibility. Most animals show no side effects whatsoever, but we should have prepared you with signs to watch out for.

Dr. Judd and her colleagues take excellent care of my two middle-aged cats. They are always willing to answer questions about proposed treatments and are transparent about the cost of procedures. I look forward to exceptional service at Rosedale Veterinary Clinic for many years to come.

They are always so kind and treat my Cameron so well.. He had to undergo a small surgery and they were very helpful with after care instructions and he is doing very well. I am very happy I chose Rosedale Veterinary Clinic to take care of my boy!

Your process is very disorganized. We have been customers for years, yet we are treated as if you have never met us in your life. The staff is constantly asking for information you should already have, like phone numbers and email addresses. I have asked dozens of times for my wife to be listed as the primary contact, which means updating phone numbers and email, but this NEVER gets done, The fact that you emailed me this survey, and not her, is the perfect example.

I had an AMAZING experience with Rosedale. I am very impressed with Dr. Shaver and all the staff. They did a great job answering all my concerns about my dog. From the moment I stepped into the clinic, every staff I encountered was super friendly to me and my dog. The doctor and vet tech was patient with me and thoroughly listened to everything I had to say. They also followed all COVID-19 precautions which is a huge plus for me. I would definitely recommend this clinic to my family and friends.
