The staff were nice and some spoke English and Japanese. The doctor was very knowledgeable and I was impressed that they have the newest diagnostic eye equipment which I have never seen in the 40 plus years that I have seen the eye doctor. Thank you

My review would be nothing but the highest praise for the professionalism, friendliness, explanations of what was being done, the billing and insurance processes - not to mention the cordial reception I received in spite of the fact that I was almost an hour late for my appointment on a day that the clinic was booked solid. There was nothing negative about the experience and I wouldn't mind having to visit every month! :-)

I didn't like how i have to come back for another exam because they couldn't read my results. I just hope that I don't have to pay for it when I come back for the 3rd time. These exams are expensive!

They have the most equipment I have seen in an eye clinic and they do a great deal of analysis when it comes to glaucoma. If you have concerns about having glaucoma, this is the place. The only challenge I have seen is that they have mostly bilingual employees, so you need to be a little more patient with conversing with them.

My husband saw an article about Dr. Sakamoto in The Japanese magazine The Lighthouse. The article talked about a new kind of contact lens OrthoK, which allows a person to sleep with a special kind of contact lens, helping to reshape the eye so that one doesn't need contacts or glasses during the day!

Having very poor vision all my life since childhood, I felt very excited that I might be able to wake up in the morning and have normal vision. I called the office immediately, we set up appointments and hopefully we will be able to be candidates for this miracle lens.

We had our first exam, watched a video regarding the contacts, did a series of tests and hopefully will be able to use this awesome technology. I have never seen such a Doctor with such advanced technology. Dr. Sakamoto himself is so knowledgable and his equipment, computer skills, and testing machines are the best in the whole state of Hawaii. I never before saw the testing equipment that he has in his office. So futuristic! I feel so excited that I might be able to have "normal vision" during the day for the first time in my life!

I've worn thick glasses since age 6, wore hard contacts for 30+ years, and soft lenses for a few, but unfortunately they don't work for me any more. To have the possibility to "correct" my vision while I sleep is like a dream come true. I do hope that I will be able to follow this review with the great news that OrthoK works for me.

When I made our appointments, I felt so welcomed by the receptionist Ming. She was so kind and answered all of my many questions. It was great to meet her in person. She, Nadiine and Junko were so professional.... and they all have such a great sense of humor and positive attitude.

It's a big help that Dr. Sakamoto, Junko and Ming can speak Japanese, as my husband is from Japan and it's so helpful that they can explain things in medical terms directly with him.

We are SO HAPPY to be in the loving care of Dr. Sakamoto and his staff. I am SO EXCITED about the possibility to have "normal" vision, and will update my results as they unfold. IF, this contact lens can help to reshape my eyes while sleeping, I will be a walking, talking billboard to everyone I know that is near sighted. It's an exciting time to be alive and have so many amazing miracles at our fingertips!

We are so happy to find Dr. Randall Sakamoto as our new eye doctor. I am a Japanese Native and always appreciate finding Doctors and staff who can speak Japanese ~ especially medical terms, so I can better understand.

Dr. Sakamoto has the best state of the art equipment for eye care, and I'm so glad we read about him in The Lighthouse. His office is very clean, everyone was so helpful, kind and professional, and at least two of the staff can speak Japaese. We are very grateful to be in Dr. Sakamoto's care! Thank you!

I came in because I had an issue with my left eye. It was a big concern. The staff were both very friendly and professional. And Dr. Sakamoto, after a few tests, knew exactly what it was. I was relieved by his diagnosis, and have had no problems since. I highly recommend Dr, Sakamoto.

I was surprised to see that this eye clinic was updated with the newest equipment for eye care. I have a potential for gout and he had a machine which could virtually give a 3D panalipse of the inside of my eye. Staff was great. English is primary but the staff and doctor is also very fluent in Japanese. They accept all major health insurance plans. Located in the Bank of Hawaii building by Ala Moana Shopping center so it is convenient too. I would highly recommend this place.
