Surely you don't really want me to fill this out for you. While I have been happy with the chiropractic care I have received there, I haven't been comfortable with the billing side of the practice so a perfect 5 stars isn't going to do it anymore since in my opinion it's a package deal. We have been told by BCBS (right or wrong) that we shouldn't be billed until they have a chance to review the charges and make any adjustments necessary. I have also been told by a good friend of mine that does billing in a medical doctors' office in town that it is not right. She encouraged me a long time ago to quit going to your practice. Who knows, maybe all chiropractic clinics are run in this manner. I don't know and I'm not looking forward to finding out. I have never had a problem paying what I owe. I certainly don't expect to receive my care for free. I don't like the guesstimating and wondering what I'll be charged for the next time I check out. Do I have a credit or don't I have a credit? As I said before over and over, I want to be an informed consumer. I am not comfortable with it any other way--and that's the way it continues to be. I want to feel comfortable asking questions about what is on my bill, not fear being jumped on for asking a simple question. I just think for the benefit of everybody it's time for me to move on and find care somewhere else. In the end I still just want to feel better (and I am slowly), but I need to feel comfortable doing it. At some point you will receive a request for my x-rays. It's on hold at this point as I have no idea who I will choose as my new chiropractor. I'm not looking forward to that process so I'm putting it off at this point, but I know it's something I will have to deal with in the near future probably. My body will probably help me move forward on that. In the meantime I don't really care to fight with you about this. I can respect your views on the billing and surely you can respect mine.
We regret learning that this patient disagrees with our billing practices. We have contacted the insurance company again and have been reassured that we are in compliance with our contract. In this era of high deductibles, patients find it beneficial to pay as they go rather than accumulate a large balance that may be difficult to pay. Our computer system includes the anticipated insurance discount when calculating the payment required from the patient. Dr. Wilcox
