I gave my insurance cards to the receptionist and told her I had new insurance. After the exam I picked out frames and the tech told me they did not take my insurance. I left without ordering new glasses (and mine were broken and taped up).
I was told I would receive a receipt to submit to my insurance company if I paid for the glasses up front. That is not how medicare B works. You must stay in network. A rep from the insurance company had a 3 way call with the office the next day and was told the same thing. The office receptionist said they filed a claim with Medicare. Medicare does not reimburse for optometrist exams. I will be responsible for the bill. I should have been told they did not take my insurance at the get go.
How irresponsible of the office personnel to treat people like that.
