I am LIVID after my experience at the Tates Creek location yesterday. The receptionist had the nerve to tell me I'm an adult and shouldn't allow my mom access to my records. That is MY choice. I am in college away from home and mom can access any of my records in case I need her to. As I was walking away, she leaned over and whispered "special needs" to the girl who was apparently training. The receptionist was a black woman with short city hair, I didn't catch her name. I was mad enough to leave then but had waited almost 2 months for this appointment and I couldn't see well with my current glasses. Then the sweet ladies who do the initial eye check were very understanding when I explained I was refusing the glaucoma test due to my anxiety disorder. Apparently the female eye doctor didn't read the note and literally shamed me for refusing. I explained my eye phobia and anxiety disorder. I am 22, 120 pounds and have zero health issues. I am not at risk for glaucoma. There is zero reason to shame a patient and continue going on and on about this test. My mother, who is a nurse, finally stepped in and took over. The doctor finally backed off when she realized I was never giving in and having it done, yet she acted like it was a personal attack on her. Needless to say, I took my prescription, left and bought glasses somewhere else. If I ever use Simpson Optical again, I will go to the Reynolds Rd store, even though my family and I come here because we love Dr Zent. Your staff needs training!
