Sleep & TMJ Therapy replied:

Hello - this is Dr. Brown. I would like to clarify that all potential patients are told that the initial consult fee is $250.00 and that we are a fee-for-service practice. This is clearly stated before anyone makes an appointment at our office. As for needing an MRI, well that is critical to what we do. When a patient has the symptoms of TMJ disorder and are referred to our office, the next step is getting an MRI to confirm how extreme the jaw dislocation might be. This is exactly why people are referred to our office - we take the time to determine the extent of the damage to their jaw joints and are very thorough. I just wish this person had the ability to talk to me directly and allow me to help him or her.

We are often able to take a person off of many of their long-term medications and give them back a better life, but unfortunately insurance does not pay for that. Insurance does pay for drugs, however. Our office is fee-for-service as we have found that we are better able to care for our patients without the complications of insurance preventing our patients from getting the treatment and care they deserve.

I invite anyone who is upset about their discussions with our office to call me and allow me to help them through their concerns. Our door is always open.

Sincerely,

Jeffrey L. Brown, DDS, MBA
