6pm, Sunday evening, August 13, 17 ~
Sincere thanks to Dr. Jeff Gray and his team for taking the time to consult with me this past Thursday morning. I'm anything but an early-morning kind of person anymore, so it took a bit of self-challenging of myself just to actually keep and make it to a 7:30 am first-time appointment; with a new dentist, much less. So I was a tad bit shaky and sleep-deprived; I rarely wake with the roosters anymore. But simply walking through the front door of the office fixed all that. Any anxiety, fear, fatigue or second thoughts I might have had going in - all but vaporized the moment I stepped inside the office. What a beautiful place! The receptionist Hayley greeted me with a smile, asked for my patient info form - then seemingly only mere seconds later, Carla kindly introduced herself, gave me a quick tour of the facility, then escorted me to a comfortable room where the doctor soon joined us, right on time. Greetings, introductions and handshakes immediately followed, putting me immediately at ease, relaxed and comfortable. Dr. Gray exuded a certain kind of calming peacefulness that ’should be’ how things play out with all health doctors, medical people and specialists; but we all know that’s not always how it goes in real life. I felt like I was in the presence of a special kind of 'caring professionalism’ who I found to be legitimately caring, compassionate -- authentic. I’m not sure how else to put it. Let’s just say he made me feel at ease. I’m a serious yacker, so I began to blab away, (the coffee probably talking) just trying to share my checkered dental past as well as my current and latest set of circumstances, stresses, difficulties and woe. The first thing I noticed was - Mr. Gray was an excellent listener. And trust me; my dental escapades and adventures could fill three books, plus I tend to ramble on and often drift off point. But he reeled me back in as best as he could and ultimately, I think we communicated very well and the consultation was a success. Looking back, I wish I’d taken some notes, (my vision is not that early)or asked a few more questions, but time is always tight with that profession and there are other patients, not just me. That’s why there’s e mail, telephones and text, I guess. All in all, I can't say enough good things about how positive my experience with Dr. Gray and his staff was for me. They’re some special folks and their facility is extraordinary. The place is laid out beautifully and being there made me feel comfortable in my skin. Zero stress, the design and esthetics of the interior were uniquely planned, thought out, implemented; the decorum, mood, the ambiance, even the subtle spicing of this and that — all quite unique. ‘Southwestern calm’ says it best for me. From the moment I walked in until I when I left just shy of an hour later, I knew it I’d just been to a very special place. To close this out, I was very impressed with these fine people and their wonderful La Mesa clinic and I’d highly recommend them to anyone looking for a good dental experience.
