For the second time, I was asked to wait in the waiting area as my child was escorted back for his procedure. This happened a month ago with my two young children as well. I was told it was because they only wanted one parent back there at a time. Mind you that there was not another adult with me. They asked me if I minded and I said yes, I'd rather not be separated but the attendant assured me that they would be ok and that they were sure they wouldnt misbehave or be any issue. That was far from my concern. Both times I was taken back to a private room where my children were located. These rooms are no different than a normal doctor's office exam rooms. I am not sure how being in a private room with only your kids and yourself and the employee is considered a risk to HIPPA. However, my children being left with an unknown adult in a secluded room is not acceptable. Do you read about the recent charges brought against the Lebanon doctor who sexually assaulted several patients? These actions are only teaching my children to blindly follow and trust complete strangers but also causing a parent to have undo stress. They are not of an age to understand right from wrong. At this time we will be seeking a new dentist as I refuse to be separated from my young children. In this day in age, that is an unacceptable practice. I also was not kept up on what services were preformed and if any other information was relayed to my young children, they are not of an age to understand or remember to pass it along to me. As I sat in the room after finally being escorted back for the second half of the procedure, I noted other patients and their parent being taken to neighboring rooms and passing by our door, so I am unclear exactly to how the policy is implemented across the board. I have no other complaints on service of this facility and have always had excellent service in the past. This is totally a safety based decision.
