Although everyone was prompt and friendly, I can’t help but overlook that my dog was misdiagnosed and was not taken care of as he should have been.
My dog was hit and I emergently brought him into SportsVet. They were great about getting him in and getting tests done promptly. However, the vet was unable to read the X-rays properly he said due to “poor positioning” he mentioned that he didn’t notice any fractures but there was possibly one where he couldn’t quite read so we paid to have them sent off and read by a radiologist. Meanwhile, the vet gave us pain medications and said we were able to go home and see how our dog progressed over the weekend. I questioned this because he couldn’t move his back half or stand and was shaking from being scared and in pain.
I got a call after we got home saying he actually had 3 fractures in his pelvis. We called our primary vet because our dog wouldn’t eat or drink and was crying from pain. She met us at our vet and took him right in! She was amazed that SportsVet sent him home. He needed to be on fluids and have constant pain control. She could also very clearly see fractures in his pelvis from looking at the same xrays the SportsVet doctor took and saw. She also mentioned that our dogs penis was fractured from the X-rays as well and that they were concerned about his hip being out of place and his leg possibly being broken.
Basically, we paid a lot of money for that vet to not have any idea what he was talking about. I would never take one of my dogs to this vet in an emergency again. I’m willing to pay what needs to be paid to make sure my animals are okay, but if I would’ve listened to him, I don’t believe my dog would be okay today.
