Maggie's visit went well.
Per tech's advice that it wouldn't hurt, I gave Maggie the de-worming pills that evening. She was VERY lethargic that evening and through the entire next day. That said, I wish I'd waited a day or two before giving her any medicine in combination with her vaccinations.
All is now well, just sad she had to feel so poorly for those two days.
Thanks, Jackie Durst
We are so sorry that Maggie was so lethargic after her visit. We always tell our clients that many pets experience lethargy from vaccines, just like a little kid gets a little sore and tired after getting shots. We are certain that it was the vaccines alone that caused this, not the dewormer. In the future, if your pet is not feeling well following vaccines, we recommended and request that you please call our clinic so we have a chance to help her feel better as soon as possible and discuss how to handle future vaccinations to prevent this. Some pets need to be pre-treated for vaccines or sent home with an anti-inflammatory following the visit. Some pets are more sensitive so we actually split the vaccines up over a month or so. The more informed we are the more we can help Maggie not have to feel badly after her shots next time. We definitely don't want her to feel that way again so I have made an alert to discuss preventing this at her next annual visit. In the future, please call us and give us a chance to address concerning symptoms.
