First of all Daniel, I apologize for any inconvenience we caused you. When you called to make your appointment, I am the person who confirmed that we could install a replacement new battery and register it with your ECU (computer). In the past we have not had any issues doing this, so I did not think we would have an issue with your 2007 BMW 325i. You brought your car in on 10/03/2012; you picked up your car on 10/05/2012; your BMW was in our shop two (2) days. After confirming that you had a weak battery, we determined which battery your car needed and had to order the battery; it was after we had the replacement battery we discovered our electronic equipment (BMW specific) was unable to communicate with your DME module preventing us from registering the new battery with your cars computer. This is the first time this has happened in our shop; once again I apologize. At present I am searching for the most appropriate tool to purchase so that in the future we will not have this issue.

We were unable to reset the "Service Due" light for the same reason as mentioned above - our equipment was not recognized by your cars computer for reset procedure and the manual reset procedures failed to work.

Concerning the light which was out, we did not replace the headlight bulb (it had not failed), we replaced the halo light bulb; (this is the bulb which lights up the ring around your headlight). It was not necessary to access the bulb through the wheel well because it was not the headlight bulb which was burnt out! Consequently, it was not possible to cause any damage (which you are concerned about) to your car. Daniel, we have been working on high end cars for over 37 years; we do not damage cars.

When you brought your car in, you mentioned to me that your convertible hard top was having some issues. I expressed to you that we do not work on automatic convertible soft tops or hard tops and recommended you take the car to a dealer since they have the proper jigs and tools for this complicated electronic /mechanical system. We did not operate any mechanism or switch related to your convertible hard top while your car was in our shop.

We failed to meet your expectations. Once again, I apologize. If you remember, I contacted the service manager at Medford BMW, put you in contact with him, gave you his direct telephone number, and assisted in the best manner I could at that moment to help with your problem.

In the near future we will have the newest electronic scanner test equipment programmer so that this instance will not re-occur. Please accept my apology. Jim Lefeber, Owner.
