I really prefer going to an ophthalmologist rather than an optometrist, as I always feel like the primary goal of an optometrist is to sell me glasses. My visit was average. I receive an exam, everyone behaved professionally, and at the end, the optometrist wrote me a prescription for glasses. I have excellent distance vision and only need glasses for reading or up-close work (like the computer) - so i could have continued to use my "readers" for a while longer. Could i have turned down the prescription? Maybe, but I didn't feel like it was an option as i was shuffled from the optometrist's chair to the optician's chair without a discussion about whether or not i needed to spend $500 on what are basically reading glasses. Will I return? Probably, as I don't think it's better anywhere else.
