The Boston Cat Hospital is my number one recommendation for kitty care in the Boston area. The staff are so nice, personable, and ready to adapt to your cat’s needs. Our cat is both physically and mentally strong and TERRIFIED of travel, so I prepared them for her worst. They were able to finish all of the labs and examinations they needed to without incident! I was so impressed. Because they’re a cat-specific practice, they’re able to pull out all the stops for cat-specific comfort, including treats, pheromones, and an expert understanding of cat behavior. They let her explore the room by herself for a few minutes, then approached and respected her boundaries. She also got to enjoy a Churu tube while they worked, which I’m sure didn’t hurt! They were even able to examine her teeth. One of my favorite things about Boston Cat is their knowledge and dedication to feline dental health. It seems like they can take one look at your cat’s teeth and determine a specific care plan for hygiene and any necessary procedures. Because my kitty is so stressed about traveling, they gave us a prescription to calm her down for future appointments. When we got home, she was immediately relaxed and back to her normal self, which I attribute to Boston Cat’s excellent care. As long as our family lives in Boston, our cats will be their patients.

My husband made an appt for euthanasia of our older cat with the secretary/scheduler. He was provided a time and prepared himself for the appt. When he arrived he was put in the room they perform euthanasia and waited. When the vet came in she declined to euthanize the cat saying there was no acute medical need. It is fine if she clinically disagrees with euthanasia and declines to perform but it should be known that the appt was a consult, not a sure thing. Maybe a clinical review could happen ahead of time. It was a giant waste of our time because we likely still can’t care for the cat, no shelter will take him because of age and now he has special food and medicine making it more difficult for us.

They take such good care of my pet and I get a genuine sense that they really take time to get to know their patients and pet owners. He was in great hands and Dr. Hazzard and her staff took time to go over everything and make sure I knew about any required after care. The only thing I might change is that we just had dental work done and I didn't get an estimate until I showed up that morning and I experienced a good deal of sticker shock. Generally the prices here are very reasonable and I trust this business, so I assume the fees are within an appropriate range. However, it it would've been helpful to get this information in advance. In addition, it would've been REALLY helpful to have the option to pay in maybe two installments, but this wasn't an option- this would've been helpful to ease the pain of coughing up a larger chunk of cash than I'd expected (last time I had cleaning done it was less than half this price...though not nearly as comprehensive). Overall I'm super pleased at the care they offer my pet and am happy to return.
