Late in the afternoon on a Friday our collie became suddenly ill. I called our vet of eight years and was met with cold indifference, being told they were too busy to see a dog that was not eating, drinking, was vomiting and was clearing struggling. In desperation I called Thorntown vet. This office never treated either of our dogs prior but I was told to bring our dog in immediately. We were promptly greeted and taken to an exam room where we were given not only professional attention but a good helping of compassion, exactly what we needed right about then. The doctor graciously spent time with us, developing a course of treatment and answering all our concerns. There are no words to adequately describe the gratitude we have for all the staff who, without hesitation, willingly stayed after closing to help our dog. No doubt it had been a long and busy Friday for them, but they held their door, and their hearts, open to help one more dog that day. Needless to say, we had our dogs records transferred to Thorntown Vet. It was clear that this was a professionally run vet office that understands that animals in need do not comprehend that appointment calendars are booked up nor can they read the posted business hours on the front door. Their concern and compassion speaks volumes, thank you so much.
