A few years ago, I brought my Jeeo Grand Cherikee in for a transmission evaluation because my regular mechanic told me I needed to replace/rebuild my transmission, At 105K miles my Jeep had served me well for several years and I wasnt ready to part ways with "old reliable". So, I made an appointment to drop the car off and have TT evaluate the problem and provide an estimate which I knew would sting. The staff was very polite and accommodating and told me they could have an answer for me in a few hours,
When they called, I expected to hear a big "che-ching" as they told me how much my new transmission would cost. Instead, I was told I didnt have a transmission problem at all. In fact, It was my rear end that hade leaked all its fluid and needed to be refilled. A minor repair!! They ordered a new case cover to replace the corroded one and for a mere fraction of the cost for replacing the transmission, I drove off a happy man. They told me the rearend gears had suffered some damage and may not last too long, but they had prolonged the life of the vehicle, At 188k I blew the head gasket on the that Jeep and, three years after the original rear end repair I decided to put my Jeep out to pasture!
Thanks TT! You helped me keep an old friend alive for a long time. You could have cheated me into a new transmission, but I guess that's not your style.
you can rest assured when I need service of that nature again, you'll be the first ones I call.
