Triangle Asian Imports CANNOT be trusted!! If you are taking your car to them, DO NOT do it. They cannot be trusted with your car and their services that they do! They do not know the meaning of Customer Service either! This business should be put out of business!

As a retired Air Force vet I was looking for a reliable mechanic, decided to give Billy a try. My initial thoughts were he's reliable, honest and the best up and coming young entrepreneur, that quickly changed. I realized that I was getting hit over the head time and again by Billy and his team of incompetents. Recently, I've discovered that I am paying for maintenance work the I previously paid Billy for on my car. Additionally, I received an estimate of work the was grossly overstated. Billy rebuilding his brother's car which is identical to mine should have been a clear indicator that I incurred the cost to upgrade his car......He will start by gaining your trust and the he will let you have it......I will never recommend Triangle Asian Imports!!! #wasaLOYALcustomer.

Word of caution, what started as a simple transmission fluid change escalated into them advising us to change the whole transmission -- for 6K!

They pointed their finger at our previous out of state mechanic with whom we used and trusted for 7 years -- for having stripped the drain bolt with the strippings potentially damaging the vehicle... & ----- that it be best to replace the whole transmission!

With all the expert advices we got from professionals, they warned us to be cautious and get another opinion. We had the vehicle towed immediately to another for review. Our suspicion was correct as the other mechanic confirmed to us of no problems to the transmission other than taking care of the drain bolt for $200. To date we have been driving the vehicle and their has been NO transmission issues. The vehicle has been operating smoothly.

We would have been out 6K if we went with Triangle Asian Exports.

Case in point, think twice about taking your vehicle to this place. If you do, they MAY lean towards having you do work you may not require.

I was really hoping to trust and using these guys for the long haul as we are new to the area, but in the end, what they did was lose our business, compromise our trust and our growing network of friends here in the triangle area.

Do not trust the mechanics here! I paid the owner and lead technician, also my boyfriend, Billy Wong $80 diagnostic fee to determine the cause of an overheating issue I have been having with my vehicle. Upon "completion" of said diagnostics, he advised me that he could not determine the problem. Trusting what he said, I proceeded to make my journey home from Durham to Winston Salem. About halfway there my vehicle began to overheat again. I pulled to the side of I40 and opened my hood to find antifreeze spraying everywhere. I called him to inform him of the issue and his response was to turn off his phone. Needless to say I was stranded on I40 all night. I finally called Triangle Asian Imports this morning and spoke to him and he finally admitted that he had not completed diagnostic testing ony vehicle, although I paid for it, only that he had checked my fluid level. This is an epic fail in my book. The fact that I had to pay diagnostics was ridiculous to begin with, but the fact that I paid for a service and didn't receive it is outrageous. So to any potential customers, BEWARE!!!! If he doesn't care to perform satisfactory services for the people he knows, why would he care about you or your vehicle.

The shop is clean and staff is nice. The repairs I had done was a lot due to

Someone else not knowing what to do, the shop went in and seen he problem

Not as happy with the service as I have been previously. I took my 2005 Hyundai in as it was making noise from the front end and I suggested that it might be a wheel bearing. TAI related to me that they thought it was a rotor that was slightly warped and that they machined all 4 rotors and resurfaced the pads (for nearly $400) but the noise was still present and they suggested it was tire noise. Well I knew it was not tire noise as we have had the tires for some time and the noise was new. So now I have had several others say it is the bearings and I am going to have to have the front bearings changed. I wish TAI had changed them out as I had suggested when I took it in. I am going to shop around for the wheel bearing replacement as it is only about a 2 hour job but he parts cost around 100 it will likely cost me about $300. I don't feel the nearly $400 I spent at TAI was really needed as the brakes sound no different and stop the same. I really don't feel they even needed resurfacing at this time.

Triangle Asian Imports replied:

Mr. Watson,

The problem as identified at the time was a grinding noise heard from your brakes. There was surface contamination and corrosion found on the brake hardware, and lack of lubrication on the brake caliper slide pins; all of which could cause/ contribute to noise from the front end, as well as presenting a safety issue which Hyundai had issued a technical service bulletin (TSB) regarding proper brake service procedure recommendations.

The rust corrosion and dry caliper slide pins (actually binding at the time) found on your vehicle, not only produced an irritable sound, but would also cause the brake calipers to seize up and not release upon application, resulting in constant contact of the brake pads with the rotors, eventually burning them up.

Please keep in mind that we did not completely rule out the possibility of bad wheel bearing(s), as we can only pursue problems as identified. Additionally, bad wheel bearings could also cause premature brake wear or failure therefore, the brake service which we performed did not only eliminate the brake noise and resolve the corrosion and lubrication issue, but also acted as a precautionary step to prevent further, more major brake failure.

If you are still hearing noise from the front end, please do not hesitate to return for us to determine it's relativity and also to determine if the wheel bearings are producing any noise, now that the brake issue and noise has been resolved.

We do apologize if this confusion was due to miscommunication, as our only goal was to serve and help keep you from spending even more money on major repairs in the future by taking precautionary measures which was needed at the time as well as contributing to your initial concern. Please call or stop by at your earliest convenience so we can take care of you as soon as possible. We appreciate the time you took to give us your review, as it helps us to continue to serve you and others even better. And as always, we appreciate your business. Thank you
