I always schedule my teeth cleaning appointments with Susan. I was not told that it had been changed. If I had known that I was going to be with Stephanie, I would’ve canceled my appointment. While I think Stephanie is a sweetheart. She’s a little rough and doesn’t provide the level of oral care that I have come to appreciate and value with Susan.
Also, I was very upset that I was charged a $25 PPE fee that was hidden under the description of unspecified previous procedure, B/R. I was told by the receptionist that that was for PPE to protect me from Covid. I’ve had Covid twice. I should not have to pay to be protected from Covid when I’ve already had it.
I was also charged a Periodic oral evaluation fee of $42. My oral Hygienist told me to wait and the doctor would come in and do an oral evaluation, I declined as I only have that done once a year with the dentist because I don’t have dental insurance and pay out of pocket. The evaluation was not done by the dentist or anyone else. My oral hygienist asked me if everything on my prior health form was accurate and I told her yes. That does not warrant a $42 charge.
Very concerning that as a person on a fixed income that has no dental insurance and is paying out of pocket would be charged these additional fees without them first being explained and then having the option to authorize those charges. As it was it was, it was an additional $67 that I was charged and should not have been. I called the office immediately and challenge the charges. I was told it would have to be discussed with the dentist, but eventually the charges were reversed, but left me wondering about prior Billings that I didn’t question and blindly paid for.
