We were (are) looking for a new veterinarian after moving to the area. We called around to several places. The staff at Valley Animal Hospital was great, initially. I called on a Saturday and spoke with David. He was very helpful, professional, informative, and provided outstanding customer service. My husband and I discussed our options and decided to set up our initial appointment (it definitely helped that it was free). I spoke with Taylor to set up the appointment. He was just as great as David had been a few days prior. When we arrived, we were greeted by several very friendly staff members. However, when we met with the veterinarian, she was absolutely dull and unprofessional. She did not make eye contact with me or my husband the entire time. She sat with her elbows on the table and her chin resting on them as she spoke flatly about the way animals can die from various diseases/conditions (I.e. heartworms). She never asked nor allowed the opportunity of explanation of our education regarding the matter. She also never recommended alternative treatments for any condition. The doctor should possibly consider further education regarding lab testing, especially in regards to heartworms and other parasitic conditions in order to provide more accurate and detailed recommendations for those seeking a more natural, healthy, or longterm treatment of such conditions.
They try to take your animal to a different room to conduct the exam. We refused, and they did the exam in the room so this really wasn't an issue. We would have left on the spot had they not conceded to allow us present for the exam.
Also-the exam is "free", but they charge $5.00 for an alcohol pad to clean the thermometer after checking rectal temperature. The medications that they sell at this location are also marked up considerably in comparison to other offices in the area and online stores like 1800 pet meds.
Bottom line: You get what you pay for. We will never be back.
