Our cat was quickly triaged, and promptly brought into the Emergent care area. A doctor came up with a treatment plan, explained it in enough detail for us to make a decision, and executed the plan promptly. The results were discussed with us along with options for further treatment, and referrals were offered without hesitation. Good job , Dr. Hilson.

I felt confident that my pet was receiving good care and was comfortable. However, when talking to the vet, he used medical jargon that I had trouble understanding. He was patient with me and we worked through it, but I would have liked more non-vet English.

Amazing service from every vet we’ve seen there including the night and weekend emergency services. We can’t thank this practice enough!

A plan for my dog's treatment was created immediately, with various tests to determine action. Everyone was compassionate and tried to keep me informed. A doctor and X-ray and ultrasound were available late at night and on the weekend. It was good to feel that everything possible was being done for him.

I can't emphasize strongly enough how much I value the expertise of the staff at VCA AAH. The first time I brought a pet in for a checkup as in 1997!

We have been so happy with VCA! The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, accessible, and clearly committed to creating a safe and healthy environment for animals. Our first few months with a puppy has been easier because of VCA.

Four stars due to being pricey, but I wouldn’t go anywhere else. Dr. Drake did a great job, even taking care of possible future problems. A check up,call the next day was reassuring. The staff was a big help, finding a non child proof top for a medicine that we had trouble opening. Geat work, everyone and thanks!,

I have been using Alexandria Animal Hospital for 10-15 years. It is a hospital comprised of 16 veterinarians, I believe. They have grown and evoled some over the years and I have not had any bad experiences with this hospital. On the contrary, I appreciate the level of professionalism and knowledge I observe when I take my pet ( Hunter, dog) there for treatment, care and routine exams. I am a nurse with 30 years of experience which gives me some insight into their process which, I admit, is beneficial. I like their thoroughness and I appreciate that some of the vets on staff are open to treating conservatively and even alternative ways of treating.

I have had to euthanize a beloved pet at this hospital also and was treated with respect and compassion when that occurred.

This hospital is particularly important to have nearby when you have an emergency! It functions as regular hospital up until 8 pm at which time it switches to seeing all patients as an emergency facility. Prices for treatment change after 8 pm to reflect this transition. I am grateful to have the emergency services nearby and have no problem with that.

I just had my dog’s teeth cleaned and examined, yesterday. Dr. Baxter and the tech team did a great job and treated me well, as always. Despite my medical background, I tend to worry quite a bit.

This practice is sometimes busy, like any medical practice, and you will have to pay for services at the time rendered. But that is normal and to be expected. My interactions with front office staff has been positive, and they frequently show much compassion as you talk with them.

Yes, I do recommend Alexandria Animal Hospital.

Honestly? We stay at VCA because of Dr. Cohen (and because, well, I've been taking my dogs there for 20 years). The staff are really competent, but things fall through the cracks when it gets busy, and it can take a long time to check out. My dog was in for dental and was also supposed to get a CADI shot. I asked once about the shot when we checked in. I called in the afternoon and asked about it a second time. When I came to pick her up, it was on my bill, so I asked for confirmation that she had gotten the shot, and she had not! It took over 30 minutes to check out because of this. I'm sure that busy days are more challenging, but I'm a little surprised at how vigilant I needed to be on this.

I have to break this review down into 2 parts:

1. Front desk/reception score: 0. Front desk really botched up the appointments I made - it took several tries to work things out. It was obvious that they do not listen to pet owners. I told them that my concern was that when you pay so little attention to detail over the little things, how can I trust you with the big things? Serious changes and/or training required here. And to cap it off, they forgot to give me the pain meds for my cat so I had to come back to pick them up - just par for the course.

2. My vet and her medical team: 5+ My vet, Dr Talbott, of course did a marvelous job - she is the reason that I suffer through the pain of the the front desk staff.

I've been going to Aida for a few years and every time I see her I walk away feeling fabulous. She is friendly and lovely and does an amazing job with my cuts and color...even when I decide I want to go from red to brown and back again.
