Well treated but waited more than 30 min after my appointment time before being seen though I was the only patient in the lobby after lunch.

Thank you for taking the time to fill out our patient survey. We will do our best to address your concerns. First let me apologize for your wait time. Unfortunately 15-30 minutes is pretty typical of a wait time and I will try and explain why. First, patient intake forms are more extensive than ever (based on insurance minimum health history requirements). The patients typically take 5 or more minutes to fill them out depending on how extensive the history. Also, our office is now adjusting to a government requirement mandating that all medical offices comply to "meaningful use certification" . This means that we use electronic medical records and report data such as Height, Weight, Body Mass Index, Language, Blood Pressure, Ethnicity, Smoking status and much more. The program is getting easier, but admittedly some of the staff is still learning how to input the data. Training has its growing pains. Another big time guzzler is insurance verification. Many insurances require preauthorization and the patient can not go back to get started on their exam without verification of eligibility. Many benefits can be obtained online, but some require a customer service agent which may result in unexpected wait times. To improve the efficiency of the check in experience we are now asking patients to fill out and submit their forms online. We also recommend that patients give us all of their insurance information in advance. This way all of the information can be entered into the program before the patient even arrives.
