When I went and bought a used 2005 Mini Cooper and ended up having a few headaches with it and a check engine light pop on, after getting the code read and doing some research, I went first to a MINI dealer mechanic, hoping the problem was something that would be covered under MINI's warranty. It came back with a $5000 repair bill, on a car that only cost $9000, and they wanted to change out the entire DME because of an 'internal fault'. I was not happy, to say the least. The guys at Z-Mech had worked on my Acura in the past, so searching for a second opinion, I went to them to have them diagnose the problems it was having. I spoke mainly with Jose, who walked me through every step they were doing with the car, and they managed to get the SES light to go off (which was NOT related to a internally faulted DME), as well as get me a repair bill that was closer to $2000. I was very pleased. :) I took this list back to where I bought the car from and was able to get them to repair the car for me, which they should have done before it was sold (which was another several week process). So I finally have the car back now, and will be taking her to Z-Mech for the repairs she needs from now on.
