Overall, the service from Tompkins has been excellent. The one thing that would be helpful is to have an idea of when Tompkins will be applying treatments to our lawn. It makes it challenging when it's unknown as to when they will be out and we have plans to use our yard for our children or family gatherings, particularly when the treatment requires people and pets to be off the lawn for 24 hours or requires the treatment to be watered-in. There are often general Facebook updates, but that update may be done a week or two before they actually get to your yard, again, making it difficult to plan when trying to use your yard.
I'm sorry if you have been inconvenienced by any of the treatments that you have ordered. Please remember that our service is one that must deal with many uncontrolled variables that effect our schedules on a daily basis. This can be anything from rain, being too windy, excessive heat, personnel sickness/children, special request made by customers/additional work with service calls, equipment malfunction, customers working in the lawn, mowing, other contractors working on site, etc. All these things and more can and do effect my people everyday. As the only way to continue to offer a premier service with any success, efficient routes need to be formed and adhered to despite those things that continually challenge our plans.
Having said that, we do have many customers with locked fences, outdoor pets, daycare providers, businesses, etc who have requested a "call ahead" prior to each scheduled service. Advanced notice has been provided to those customers for years as a routine part of this business.
The required postings say to "keep off for 24 hrs" but that is not usually necessary. Most pesticide (we use few and in small quantity) labels will clearly state that the area is safe to re-enter after sprays have dried and dusts have settled. Please remember also that my people do not work weekends. Not because I dislike making money but in effort not to effect how our customers use their property.
I don't recall you ever requesting any advanced notice but if you need that we can offer it to you. Just provide the number you wish us to call and it will be noted on your work orders. Also, if you ever have a question about an application that has been made, please call or email me.
