In 1903, the founder of Acme Rug Cleaners, Joe Pettit, lived in Wichita, KS. His father was one of the pioneers of carpet cleaning in that area. Cleaning carpets at that time was done with a hose pulled from a gasoline powered vacuum mounted on a horse drawn wagon. As a young man Joe moved to Lincoln, NE. while there, he worked in the carpet cleaning business with his brother. In 1927, Joe and his wife Dora moved to Omaha and started Acme Rug Cleaners Inc.

2012 has brought some exciting changes to our family business. We are excited to announce that Matthew's oldest son Aaron has become the 5th generation of the Pettit family to enter the business. At the close of this year, Roger has decided to retire after 47 years of service to the Omaha area. His son Matthew will be operating the company for many more years to come.Matthew and Aaron will continue to provide the quality of service that our customers have grown to expect from a now 5th generation family business. We are proud to say that it is because of those customers we are starting our 86th year serving the city of Omaha and surrounding areas. You can be assured that you will receive the same quality of services that we were founded on all the way back in 1927.
