When I walked into the Allure office in Venice there were only a couple of people seated in the spacious well-lit waiting room. The receptionist offered water or refreshments and took my first appointment paperwork and I gave her my ID and insurance cards to copy for the records and took a seat. The TV had a variety of short videos about the services offered at Allure, which I found interesting as I did not realize that the other services were available at Allure. (I contacted Allure for an appointment a couple weeks earlier after seeing an ad on TV about the varicose vein treatments.) . In just a few minutes I was called back and taken to a room with a pair of comfortable chairs where I answered some questions and was shown a video about how the veins in our body work and the cause of varicose veins and spider veins and the treatments. After the video (Alyssa?) answered questions and explained that the doctor or PA would come in to determine how best to proceed. She also explained the difference between treatments that would be covered by Medicare and those that would not be covered. I met with the doctor, who sat down and talked with me and discussed my symptoms and again went over the possible treatments. After the examination of my legs, it was determined that the best way to proceed was to do an ultrasound scan of my leg veins to identify the exact cause of the problem. I was fortunate that I was able to get the scan done right after the consultation. Julie did the scan and after she finished the first leg, she started to explain what she had found. How nice to get the results on the spot! I did not have to wait for someone to read them, send them to my doctor, and then wait for the doctor to call with the results!! Julie also explained the two types of procedures that would be used. The PA came in and went over the findings with me and asked if I had any questions. I didn't because Julie had done such a complete job of explaining not just the findings, but also the treatments, possible side effects and after treatment exercise. Everyone was so friendly, offered water several times, no one seemed rushed or rushed me. I could have even done the first treatment that same day. I was hesitant to go for the consultation as my mother had tried to get some varicose veins treated several years ago and didn't even finish the first treatment because of the pain. By the time i was finished with the appointment, I was confident that I made the right choice.
