I had a very positive experience recently at the Avery Ranch location of Urgent and Family Care. I did the online check in (highly recommend this method vs. just showing up), and per the website's instructions, I had not been contacted by them within the 30 minute window of my online check in submission, so I called their number. I was told that I should go ahead and make my way to their location (about 10 minutes drive). When I arrived, I checked in at the window (they already had my check in paperwork ready) and had a seat in the waiting area. Within 10 minutes I was called back to an exam room where I had an initial assessment and vitals taken by a pleasant nurse who gave a nice introduction and was quick with his tasks before leaving the room. I only had to wait a few minutes (less than 5) before Dr. Fischer arrived to the exam room. Dr. Fischer was very pleasant, listened to my description of symptoms, asked a few questions and provided his recommendations and mentioned he would provide me with two prescriptions for my issues. At no point did I feel rushed or ignored/dismissed, yet the visit was efficient. After finishing with Dr. Fischer, the nurse returned to my room with the two computer printed prescriptions (separate pieces of paper, in case I decided I didn't want to fill one) as well as printed care instructions for my diagnosis. I had no co-pay upon checkout since this facility apparently files directly with my insurance and then any gap billing would be provided later if my insurance did not cover everything. (NICE!). If there is a bill later, I can conveniently pay it online so I don't have to return to the facility. This facility and doctors are a nice alternative to having a true "Primary Care Physician", since I haven't had a PCP in decades and my insurance plan is "point of service" (I don't need a PCP or referrals). I would imagine if I had more chronic/prevalent health issues that required more specialized care, then I would seek out a different doctor and/or facility, but for this phase of my life, this works best for me.
