In early 2015 I hustled to complete my Bressler Organizer Forms and sent them in well early so they could be processed as early as possible. Normally I get questions from my preparer within a week or two. Several weeks later, I called and was told that mine had not yet been started, due to an earlier deadline for farmers (March 1?). In the end, apparently it took about a month to get working on my returns. Had I known that, I wouldn't have put my tax prep work in such a high priority.
My preparer for the past 20 or so years retired last year, and I feel that my tax returns this year were given to a preparer who was overloaded. My phone calls to her message machine were not returned, and it was usually 3-4 days to get an email response from her. Classic signs of having too much work on her plate.
My returns were finally completed before the tax deadline, but as of May 7th, I still have not received back the papers (W-2, 1099, etc) I sent in back in February (I live out of state but up to now, have continued to use Bressler & Co for preparing my returns.)
