Came in for my 6-month cleaning yesterday. Hygienist was a bit rough from the get-go. She kept apologizing for being rough but didn't slow down. She worked thouroughly but seemingly frantically. A couple times forcing her fingers into my thoat to get a look at my tonsils making me gag, apologized but again didn't really change her approach.
Later, after polishing my teeth, she found some more tarter in my lower front teeth so she went back to digging which was fine, but she kept setting the instrumet with sharp iron hooks on it on my chest which rolled towards my neck each time. I am not a table, unlike the small rolling table 2 feet away where all the instruments go when you need to set them down.
Afterwards found a wad of wet gauze in between my legs, no idea how it made it down there other than tools and supplies seemed to be all over the place. Most bafflingly Dr. Carol came in, who I love and have been seeing for 5 years, sat down and introduced herself to me like we'd never met. She said maybe it was my new hair cut, even though I've had this cut for over 2 years.
All of this was just a little bit off; end of the day, maybe people were tired. But as I checked out, the woman at the desk asked and said "Luis isn't here, what do you usually pay? The full $300, or just your copay?" As it happens we don't usually pay anything out of pocket on the day, not even a co-pay, we get billed later. But as I needed to pay an outstanding amount of $13 on my wife's bill I ended up paying a copay+$13. Left feeling like I'd just been rushed through an assembly line. Which is a quibble I guess but it has always been the people, the calming experience, the nice rooms and bright windows, and most of all our relationship with Dr. Carol, that has kept us coming here for the last 5-6 years. This experience was just really out of the ordinary.
