I really appreciate all the providers at CFH. I appreciate their willingness to allow parents to make the best decisions for their children. I will say I am disappointed in the recent decision to make well-visits mandatory. I prefer both to bring my child into the office in the middle of cold/flu season if she is healthy and thriving. Most parents would agree that we bring our children in for most well-visits but all of them are not necessary. Many moms in our area are not happy with this decision- one of the biggest reasons that many of us choose CFH is the freedoms to make what we feel like are the best decisions for our children.

Carolina Family Healthcare replied:

Thank you for your comments about CFH. We apologize about the mandatory well child requirement; however, you need to understand why we decided to require them. Not only is it extremely important to record your child?s growth over the years, but we need to keep their records current, even if they don?t immunize.

This has been a particularly bad flu season which has resulted in numerous after hours emergency calls from parents with sick children. In several of these cases, the child hadn?t had any well visits in the past year, and in one case the only time we had seen the child was when they were a newborn two years ago. When a child hasn?t been seen in a year, we can?t treat them during an after hours emergency call, and the parents are directed to go to urgent care or the emergency room in the middle of the night.

We also understand your concern for bringing your child in during flu season. We are allowing parents to wait until after flu season. However, we are requesting that you at least go ahead and schedule the appointment for sometime in March or April. Please understand that if your child hasn?t been seen in a year, we can?t treat your child over the phone until they have had their well visit.

We want to provide the best care to all of our patients, and we feel the best way is to ensure that all of them have regular preventive visits.

Everyone we encountered seemed to genuinely enjoy their work. Everyone was pleasant and smiling. This was our first visit. Dr. Dino and his nurse had my toddler smiling, even laughing. My child easily cooperated with the team because of the warm, welcoming environment. My child has asked when she can go for another check-up! The toys in the waiting room also made her feel more at ease. As parents, we felt so relieved by the rapport that was easily built. Dr. Dino and his nurse were knowledgeable, professional, yet down-to-earth. It was so refreshing as parents to be respected as valuable members of the team in making decisions for our child's health. The facility felt clean, fresh, and uplifting. The whole visit was very efficient. The bar is set pretty high for our next visit!
