Brian did an excellent job; he had our Subaru serviced promptly and within a reasonable time (replacing struts). He offered us a manufacturer coupon to mail for for a rebate. During the driving inspection, he noticed the driving belts needed tightening and had the problem fixed in minutes at no extra charge. Brian is very knowledgeable, has the customer's interest in mind ands has a good sense of humor.

I have used this Car-X franchise for the past 10 years. Monzur, the owner is a fine person and has always treated us well. Since I always shop around for big items such as tires, timing belt, etc. Car-X's prices are very competitive.

I would highly recommend this business.

Our family had used Car-X Libertyville for most of our vehicles for the past 5 years or so. We have been quite happy, up until recently.

Last week, I brought in my Honda Accord to be checked out because of a rattling. I was told that the ball joints (both sides, uppers and lowers) were dangerously bad and would need to be replaced. I was also told that the struts were not far behind. I paid $865 to have the ball joints replaced, and when I asked if the rattling was fixed, was told, "I didn't hear anything."

Less than a mile away from the shop, the rattling starts again. I called the shop and said that the rattling was still happening. I was then told that it was the struts, and to bring it back in to have those replaced (which was told would be an additional $1000).

I took it to a family friend for a second opinion and was told that my struts were still solid, the rattling was more than likely just a heat-shield lose, and that my rotors were bad (something I had complained about to Car-X twice before, only to be told "Your brakes are fine."

There is NO WAY I will be recommending Car-X Libertyville to anyone.

I've sent two(2) complaints to date. The Car X Service Center in Libertyville, Il was a major reason for the Transmission in my 1998 Mazda 626 LX going bad and beginning to slip between lower gear changes up to 40 miles per hour. Refer to their Invoices dated 10/1/14 and 11/20/14 and you will see they initially replaced METAL oil cooler lines with Rubber Cooler Lines held on with clamps. The clamps burst off and the performance of the engine and transmission hasn't been the same or right. Brian Service Lingle, Mgr. says he does it all the time and NEVER had this problem before. It was a band aid and wrong...work poorly done! He then replaced them with metal and charged me another $100.00. This is in the hands of my Attorney for Car X to pay at least half of the cost of a rebuilt Transmission ...Quote from Brian = $1,800.00 with work done by his referral. I need a reply to this email PROMPTLY>

My exhaust pipe had broken. I came in for an estimate, and they were able to repair the exhaust in less than an hour for a very reasonable price.

I replied last week and haven't had a reply from your Claims Dep't yet. As I wrote you in the reply last week, Our Attorney's and everyone I speak to feel the Libertyville Service Center is liable for the damage caused by using unacceptable materials and parts in previous work triggering the need for a rebuilt transmission. Brian told me it would cost $1,800.00 all inclusive if I have his friend in Wauconda, IL do it. We feel it's the obligation of Car X Claims to pay for a minimum of 1/2 the cost of this job since Car X caused it.

An immediate reply is expected or we will have to take further action soon!

On 10/1/14 Car-X put in Rubber Oil Cooler Lines w/ clamps w/o my permission. I had a problem with the Metal Oil Cooler Lines and was never consulted by Brian on the alternative of using the Rubber above. Result was that on 11/20/14 the lines broke off while I was at a very busy 4 way stop intersection and I was subject to a potential serious accident in heavy traffic as the car stalled and wouldn't move. I finally limped to the side of the road and called AAA who had a flatbed sent to haul the car to this same Service Center. The driver told me Car X was trying to cut corners by replacing the metal lines with rubber. Brian charged me $100.00 to replace them which I feel was wrong. Then the worst thing happened when the engine was missing after what he did. He told me the Transmission was bad. I feel strongly Car X should step up and replace the Transmission as this Service Center caused the problem through their mistake. Brian tells me a rebuilt Transmission will cost a total of $1,800.00 and is trying to blame the problem on the age of the car and mileage of 150K plus. He refuses to offer to take care of the problem. I have consulted with my Attorney who feels there's definitely a case here if Car X doesn't step up. I expect to hear from you ASAP regarding this matter with an offer to take care of it. The Service Center has all my contact information. I want to be able to recommend this Service Center to all but have a real problem doing this due to the story above. If the work had been done right I would have Rated the Service Center at 5 Stars.

My Jeep is 12 years old. I keep the car because I like it, it is reliable and partially due to the fact that Brian at the Libertyville CarX keeps it going and is fair with his analysis and work.
