Chadwell Animal Hospital opened its doors in September 2003. It was a collaborative effort by Dr. Keith Gold and Dr. Ruby Schaupp (a husband and wife team). Both had worked at various animal hospitals in Baltimore County. This would be the first time they would join forces, each bringing their experiences, ideas and skills to create a veterinary hospital with a professional environment that would be efficient, always educational, compassionate and fun!
The Chadwell name was derived from their first dog, who in turn, was named after a town on the island of St. Kitts. "Chadwell" was adopted from this island as a puppy. It was in his memory, that of a resilient, loyal and brave companion that the practice was named.
The hospital is a 5500 square foot facility with 8 exam rooms, 2 surgical suites and a surgical prep room. There are separate dog, cat, and exotic wards, and an isolation room with it's own ventilation. The intensive care unit is located just off the treatment area where those patients are monitored continuously throughout the day. There is a special procedures room for radiographs, endoscopy, and ultrasound.

From the time you enter until you leave you meet with friendly, competent staff. The front office staff is The absolute best. They truly care about you and your pet family and that is so important as a pet owner. Highly recommend them.
I've been taking my cats to Chadwell for over 10 yrs. The staff are very nice and helpful and the Dr's are very knowledgeable and take time to explain everything to me. I would recommend them to everyone.
Your business is growing and you do fabulous work but your wait times are growing exponentially with this.
My time from entry 3:50 pm (4 pm appointment) to actually seeing Dr. Block -5:20 , was a lot longer then it should be.
Having a second doctor team up doesn't seem to alleviated any of this wait time either, I'm afraid to say.
I'm hoping to see an improvement in that regard.
Otherwise, the knowledge and experience shown by everyone from the front desk, the p/a's to the doctors themselves has been wonderful.
Keep up the good work.
