I was disappointed that no special measures were taken due to COVID, Measures such as:
Ensuring prior to patients ensuring the office they do not have symptoms of COVID or have been in close contact with anyone with COVID. Or tested positive for COVID.
Checking patients temperatures prior to or upon entering the office.
Technicians and providers wearing face shields as well as their face masks.
Technicians and providers wearing disposable aprons for each patient.
I have been on several other medical office visits and have experienced these kind of measures so I was surprised that a dentist office did take extra precautions. It made me very uncomfortable.
We are sorry that your last visit made you uncomfortable. Inherent in our mission is to love others and putting our patients, who we feel are our family, at a health risk is both not loving and unconscionable. We wish you would have brought your concerns to us at the time of your visit so that we could explain what we are doing different and as a result of those additional measures, how truly safe you are.
The situation with COVID-19 in our country and how dental offices respond to SARS-Cov-2 is in flux. The biggest change from the beginning is the current understanding of how the virus is contracted. It is well understood that contact with the virus from any hard or soft surface is not a mode of transmission. Person to person contact is and as such we have followed guidelines of a 6â?? distance between patients (our rooms are 10â?? wide, so each patient is 10â?? apart) and 15 minute spacing between patients in each of our rooms. Because our providers alternate rooms, this is easy for us to do in our over 5000 sq ft. facility.
We have been killing viruses with our sterilization procedures and surface disinfectants for over 25 years. The chemicals we use in our office to clean it kill all viruses and bacteria. Our staff uses all the necessary PPE with every patient every time, again, as we always have for 25 years.
I spend many hours each month to stay abreast of the current trends in the world of dentistry; a part of that is to have a full understanding of the facts and to know if something being reported in the media is truly accurate. I would encourage you to come into the office and discuss the changes we have implemented as a result of COVID-19. I will give you a personal tour of the office to show you that this is indeed a safe place to have all of your oral healthcare needs addressed. It is my mission to take care of each person individually, to be a friendly face and to love others the best I know how.
