I've been taking my car to this shop for over 10 years and I was a little disappointed this past repair.
The initial estimate given to me had 3 possible total amounts depending on the type of alternator they would find in the car.
When the repair was done, they told me the car is ready and the charge mentioned is the highest of the 3 possible total amounts.
I asked if it was the biggest wattage of the alternator that had to be replaced and they said yes.
Before we left to pick up the car, I called to request for the old part and the lady said she would advise them of my request. On our way to the shop, we were told that we can't get the old part unless we pay for the 'core' price since the part was bought with a 'core' price. We said, how come when we paid for the part in full price?
In the end, when we got there, we were told we can take the old part with us. This was making me doubt when I've always trusted this shop fully.
We took the part and was given total charge for the repair which again is the highest price of the 3 possible charges. I asked to see the bill. I saw a charge for 3 hours of labor which should not be there. This was a total of $300 overcharge which they had to take out.
This was very disappointing. If other customers do not review their bill and just pay, $300 is certainly such a big out of pocket cost for nothing.
Richard has always been good to deal with especially with pricing and quality of work, however, this time I was not given a chance to talk to him. I hope Richard fixes this BIG problem.
It makes a loyal customer leave his shop. I even recommended his shop to relatives and friends but now, I am not sure anymore.
